26/12/2003 Christmas catch up! and Calendar for 2004 now available
So much has happened these last few weeks and the time has flown by. Firstly Serrato just grows and grows and is becoming a really selfassured little being. He knows his name and now wears a red halter on a Sunday to greet visitors. He is also learning to stand tied up next to his mother,a little discipline nice and early!

The casita for the museum has been swung over the fence and into position. This was a rather perilous event as the first crane did not have an arm long enough to swing it right over the fence and flowers and there it was was swinging in the breeze! Of course the guys knew what they were about so they lifted it up and over and put it back on the outside track to await a larger crane with a longer arm to manipulate it into position! Phew! all done now and we are waiting for the glass man to complete the repairs and then we can put together our little donkey museum.A good New Year project. Another good thing has happened and that is we have had a horsebox donated to ANCRAA. This is wondeful news and it means that we can take out the girlies to show them at Fiestas and Fairs etc.

The two teenage delinquents Britty and El Quivir are in the midst of their lead training and walking on command. They have had their first taste of the big wide world outside of the finca as I walked them up the track a little way. There was a lot of heavy breathing and ears twitching like radar sticks as they looked all around at the countryside outside of home. It was interesting to see what a big step they have now taken.

I have done the first talk about the donkeys to a school here on the coast. I was invited by Swans School in Marbella and so I gave a talk to the whole school , first the juniors and then the seniors. I was so very pleased as they asked me a lot of good questions and were really interested in the subject. Following on from that some of the children have now visited with their parents to cuddle a donkey and to choose which one they would like to sponsor. They will be able to follow their donkeys progress all through the years now.

The Calendar for 2004 is a great success, hooray! We worked so hard to get it done in time for the printer and everybody just loves it.So THANK YOU all of you that have bought one , you are supporting the donkeys well.We still have some for sale so PLEASE treat youself.

Lastly as it is Christmas we played Christmas Carols to the donkeys as they ate their supper in the stables on Christmas Day. It was really rather special and somehow put us in touch with the real meaning of Christmas. So the donkeys wish you a very Happy New Year and look forward to hearing from you , wherever you are and if you can visit, well, they really would love that!
