01/06/2006 Marisma and her hoof problem
Marisma and her hoof problem have been a cause for concern throughout the year one way and another. In total she has had three operations and the biopsy did show it is a melanoma in the hoof. The TLC is still ongoing and recently she had the last op. A hole the size of a tennis ball was cut out of the hoof as it was black. Then it was cauterized and with fingers crossed it does look as if it just might have done the trick.

It is healing really well and is pink and I see today (23/6/2006) that it looks like new hoof growing too.We are so desperately trying to save Marisma as she is particularly beautiful for the breed standard. Aurora her only foal so far, is now just over two years and she is a cracker. If you would like to help Marisma please look at her special appeal page. If we can save her and she can produce another foal it would be wonderful.
