This is the National Association of Breeders of the Andaluz Donkey, or in Spanish, Asociacion Nacional de Criadores de la Raza Asnal Andaluza. This particular breed of donkey is in danger of extinction as recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in year 2001. The above association ANCRAA was formed so that with the help of like minded people, this almost extinct breed can be saved and slowly increased, thereby saving a little bit of heritage for future generations to enjoy.
These beautiful Andaluz Donkeys are cared for on a private finca on the Costa del Sol, in Spain. Their custodians are all volunteers dedicated to the task in hand. As at April 2005 there are 19 donkeys in total. Last year 6 foals were born, 4 females and two males. All are growing well and have started their in hand training.
If you feel either as a company or an individual that you too would like to contribute to this very special project do please contact us. There are many ways in which you can help save these Giant Andaluz Donkeys from extinction. Time is of the essence as there are only around 120/150 remaining and the males in particular are extremely scarce.
We welcome visitors to the breeding sanctuary to see our work and to observe the progress being made and also to enjoy the company of the endangered Giant Andaluz Donkey. Once seen never forgotten!
If this appeals to you please get in contact with us from the "Contact Us" link above.
