This is the National Association of Breeders of the Andaluz Donkey, or in Spanish, Asociacion Nacional de Criadores de la Raza Asnal Andaluza. This particular breed of donkey is in danger of extinction as recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in year 2001. The above association ANCRAA was formed so that with the help of like minded people, this almost extinct breed can be saved and slowly increased, thereby saving a little bit of heritage for future generations to enjoy.

These beautiful Andaluz Donkeys are cared for on a private finca on the Costa del Sol, in Spain. Their custodians are all volunteers dedicated to the task in hand. As at June 2006 there are now 20 donkeys, a mixture of youngsters and adults.
For this project to continue however we do need some help. As the herd grows so do the costs for food, vet, farrier etc etc. So many people tell us to “keep up the good work” and “ what a wonderful project” but sadly words do not pay the bills! So if you really want to help a conservation project be successful and if you really care about saving a breed from extinction we ask you to send your donation, large or small via our donations page and Pay Pal or post.
Remember, without your help we cannot continue , so please be positive and act now before it is too late for these beautiful donkeys.
We welcome visitors to the breeding sanctuary to see the work in progress and to enjoy the company of the Giant Andaluz Donkeys. Did you know that there are only approx 120/150 remaining? This is why your help is so valuable.

It is something different and educational and helps to teach youngsters about conservation and giving back to the planet.
